Tantri, the theme of
BALI ART FESTIVAL

The complete theme itself is "Tantriwakya Amrddhyaken Kaprayatnan, Yama, Mitra, Jagadhita" or through the Tantri theme, we increase our awareness, self-control, friendship and the weT-fare of our country.
This is in accordance with the current Indone-sian situation at this time that requires awareness, self-control and friend-ship that can be threat-ened with disintegration.
Tantri is a famous piece of literature about a young beautiful, wise and brilliant girl, the daughter  of  Patih Banderswarya, the name of the minister of Petali King.
As the story begins, King of Petali named Aeswaryadala suddenly had a strange behavior. Re desired a young beautiful girl every night, and he was ashamed to tell his true feelings to Diah Tantri.
After all the virgins were tasted and the only one left was Diah Tantri, Patib Banderwasya be-gan to worry.
He told to his daugh-ter about his problem. Surprisingly, Diah Tantri was willing to take her-self to the king.
Aeswaryadala was so cheerful that his desire was fulfilled.
However, Diah Tantri cud not give herself eas-ily, she told continous stories to the king about animal behavior that contained moral guid-ance. Her purpose was to tease the king without being recognized.
Finally the king real-ized his faults and mar-ried Diah Tantri.
